Animations

This page has some animations I made for some of the games I worked on.

Clay from Operation Outbreak: These are the four animations I made for Clay, the main character from a game I worked on known as Operation Outbreak. This game was originally going to be my senior capstone, and I was mainly tasked with creating and animating many of the sprites. Clay was one of these sprites, who I designed and animated myself using Adobe Photoshop. I was able to finish four animations for Clay, those being an idle (top-left), a run cycle (top-right), a jump (bottom-left), and a shooting animation (bottom-right). I had to work over winter break to clean up the animations as well as add more details such as shadows and lighting. Unfortunately, my senior capstone group ended up disbanding, but I’m still proud of how these animations turned out and wanted to share them.

Paper Character from Mason Mayhem: These are a few of the animations I made for the paper character from Mayson Mayhem. This character was made to be in an art style a kin to a doodle in a school notebook, or a scrapbook style. As such each frame was hand drawn on tracing paper, before being scanned into my computer where I isolated each frame in Photoshop, where I also created these animations. While the pond stage was cut, the art leads didn’t want my work to go to waste and implemented the character in the credits.

Water Spout Hazard: This water spout hazard was made in a similar process as the paper character. I also had a looping version of this in case the design team needed it. The idea for this hazard was for it to shoot out of the pond and knock players back. While this hazard isn’t seen in the final game, I’m still proud of how it turned out.

Walking Turret from N.O.V.A Escape: These are the two animations I made for the walking turret from N.O.V.A Escape. The first was a basic walking animation as this was a roaming enemy. The second animation was an attack, which I made in case we planned on making this enemy shoot projectiles. I animated both of these in 3ds Max, and used a biped skeleton for it.
Ceiling turret concept from N.O.V.A Escape: This is a scouting movement for the ceiling turret concept from N.O.V.A Escape, which I animated using 3ds Max. I had to make a custom skeleton for this model, which was challenging due to the bones making the model stretch whenever I tried to move them. The moving component isn’t attached to the base, which I did intentionally to make it easier to animate. Since N.O.V.A Escape was a 2D platformer, the ceiling turret would’ve been seen from the front, with this detached component hidden behind the dome.

Slimber Climber Animations: These are a few of the animations I made for the game Slimber Climber. The animations shown are for the jump and walking motions of the slime, and firing the shotgun. These were made before I obtained a drawing tablet, so they were made with mouse and keyboard using Adobe Photoshop. I had to fix the frames and canvas size due to some small mistakes I made as someone new to Photoshop, these animations were ones that I was proud of.
